POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Class Schedule: Classes will begin on Saturday, September 5th and run until early May.

Monthly Newsletters: are available at the studio the first week of every month.  We ask that all parents come into the dance studio during the first week of the month to pick up a copy of the newsletter.  The newsletters contain important information regarding dance classes and studio details.

The following is a list of vacation days when the studio will be closed:

Columbus Day - Monday, October 12th

Veteran’s Day - Wednesday, November 11th

Thanksgiving Break - November 25th thru November 28th

Christmas Break - December 24th thru January 2nd

Spring Vacation – April 19th – April 24th

Observation Weeks:  Observation days will be the first week of classes in November, February, and April.  On observation week parents are invited to watch their child’s classes.  Please make arrangements for young siblings on these days, extra children in the classroom can be very distraction for the teachers and the students.  Street shoes are not allowed on the dance floor, observers will be asked to remove shoes prior to entering the studio area.

Attendance:  Reimbursements will not be given to students who miss class or for classes cancelled by Melissa due to inclement weather.  On occasion a substitute teacher will teach classes due to our vigorous competition schedule.  If for any reason a substitute teacher is not available, than the opportunity to make-up the missed class will be provided.  Students are allowed one month to make-up any missed classes.  A schedule of appropriate make-up times will be provided.

Cancellations:  To find out if your child’s class has been cancelled due to inclement weather, please call the studio at 508-248-1007.

Tuition Payments:  Tuition is due the first week of each month in order to receive the discounted price.  A non-refundable $20.00 registration fee and the first monthly tuition payment is due at registration.  (maximum registration fee per family is $35.00)  There will be an estimated costume cost rolled into the first four months of tuition.

Maureen Miller will be available the first week of classes every month to take tuition payments and answer questions. There is a locked metal box for tuition drop offs in the third floor waiting room.

All checks should be made payable to: Dance Mechanix School of Dance

Each student is invited to participate in the OLD HOME DAY PARADE with the Dance Mechanix School of Dance.

***Please note…there will be no tuition refunds.  Students participating in the Kinderdance classes will be entitled to a refund during the month of September only.  Returned checks will be charged a $20.00 fee.

Fundraisers:  There is a fundraising committee, DMX Parents Group.  We welcome your help with fundraisers.  Monies collected will be for the sole purpose of supporting the Dance Mechanix Company Dancers.  More information can be obtained by talking to Tina Costa, president.

PLEASE NOTE: Periodically throughout the dance season your children will be photographed during class. These photographs will be used in an end of the year recital calendar that will be sold as a fundraiser on recital night. If you DO NOT want your child's picture taken please notify the DMX Parent's Group ASAP. Thank you for your cooperation.

Each young dancer is assigned a “Big Sister.”  The purpose of a “Big Sister” is to provide activities for the young dancers, be role models, and to make them feel welcome and part of the Dance Mechanix Family.

Dance Mechanix Gives Back:  Dance Mechanix Gives Back is a group of dancers and mothers whose sole purpose is to give back to the community.  During the year they participate in community service activities such as:  collecting food for CHIP-IN, Thanksgiving Baskets, and clothing drives. If you would like to help out or know of people in need please contact Pauline Bjorn through the studio.

Picture Day:  Pictures of the dancers in costume will be taken by Village Photo at the Dance Studio in early spring.  All students are asked to be present at picture day even if you choose not to purchase pictures. Many students purchase individual and group photos and like to have the whole class photographed.  Village Photo has been photographing our dancers for several years.  They provide us with high quality photos at reasonable prices.

Recital:  The Dance Mechanix School of Dance will have their annual recital in early May.  More information regarding the exact date and place of the recital will be available mid-season.  There will be a mandatory dress rehearsal a couple of days prior to the recital.  Videos of the performance can be purchased through KPS Video.  Flash photography and videotaping are prohibited the night of the recital.

An estimated 25% costume deposit is rolled into the first four months of tuition payments.  Costumes will be ordered in December.   No costumes will be allowed to leave the studio until they are paid in full.  Costumes and tights will be purchased through Dance Mechanix.  Parents will be responsible for purchasing the proper shoes.

Dress Code

Class Conduct:  Although we try to provide a friendly atmosphere at Dance Mechanix, it is important for students to be respectful and quiet during class.  This will help teachers and assistant teachers of Dance Mechanix to provide a learning environment.  Please remember to encourage each other in a supportive manner and to work together as a team.  There is a ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY for disruptive behavior during class and in the waiting area.  Students not conforming with his rule will be asked to leave class.  Repeat incidences will result in being asked to leave the studio permanently.
